On a sunny weekend there is hardly anything better to do that to go to the zoo. This is true in just about every city and Akron is no exception. It is home to an incredible zoo that is worth checking out. Keep reading and learn a little bit about the Akron Zoo.
The Akron Zoo is located on over fifty acres of land just outside of the downtown Akron area. It is accredited as a conservation zoo by the AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums). This means that they participate in breeding programs to help save endangered animals. Besides their conservation work they also house a great deal of animals. There are over 700 different animals at the zoo arranged into different exhibits. Some of the animals at the zoo include snow leopards, endangered penguins, tigers, Komodo dragons and jaguars. If you were to try to list all of the animals at the zoo it would take several pages so lets just say that there is a great variety to see. This makes it a fascinating place to go and spend time whether it be a couple of hours or the entire day. You should definitely check it out.
If you would like to visit the zoo you can find it at 500 Edgewood Avenue in Akron Ohio. Ticket prices are reasonable at $9 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5.50 for children under fourteen years of age. For more information or to check on current hours or events you can call the information line at 330-375-2550. Have fun.
